Thyroid Cancer Essay Research Paper Cancer of free essay sample

Thyroid Cancer Essay, Research Paper Cancer of the thyroid may be one of the less often happening signifiers of malignant neoplastic disease, but it is the most common malignance of the hormone system. Each twelvemonth, more than 1,100 Americans are diagnosed with thyroid malignant neoplastic disease and most of them can anticipate to populate a normal life span ( Health Conn. hypertext markup language ) . The overall incidence of being diagnosed with thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is about 1 out of every 1,000 people ( Health Answers. hypertext markup language ) . As with other thyroid conditions, more than twice as many adult females as work forces develop thyroid malignant neoplastic disease. Most work forces and adult females who are diagnosed with this type of malignant neoplastic disease are between the ages of 25 and 65 old ages ( Health Conn. hypertext markup language ) . General Description Cancer is a disease in which unnatural cells in some organ or tissue go out of control, turning and increasing in figure. When normal cell growing occurs, worn out tissues are replaced and lesions are healed. But when cells grow out of control, they form a mass called a tumour. Some tumours grow and enlarge merely at the site where they began. These types of tumours are referred to as benign tumours. Other tumours non merely enlarge locally, but they besides have the possible to occupy and destruct the normal tissues around them and to distribute to other parts of the organic structure. These types of tumours are called malignant tumours or malignant neoplastic disease. ( Mediconsult hypertext markup language ) Malignant tumours of the thyroid secretory organ tend to develop bit by bit and stay localised. The tumours normally appear as nodules or balls of tissue turning on or inside the secretory organ itself. Most balls on the cervix, nevertheless, are normally caused by thyroid conditions such as goitres. ( Mediconsult hypertext markup language ) There are four chief types of thyroid malignant neoplastic diseases: papillose, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic ( besides referred to as undifferentiated ) ( Graylab hypertext markup language ) . These tumours are identified by the type of cells seen under the microscope. Papillary thyroid tumours occur most frequently. This type of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease develops on one or both sides of the secretory organ and remains confined for several old ages. Follicular tumours, on the other manus, grow merely on one side of the secretory organ. Medullary thyroid tumours are normally uncommon, and like papillose tumours, they grow on one or both sides of the secretory organ. Anaplastic tumours, though highly rare, develop on either side of the thyroid secretory organ and spread quickly to other parts of the organic structure ( Thyroid Cancer Overview ) . Causes The merely known hazard for thyroid malignant neoplastic disease in some people is external radiation to the caput and cervix countries. From the early 1920 # 8217 ; s to the late 1950 # 8217 ; s, 1000s of kids received x-ray interventions to the caput and cervix countries ( Health Conn. hypertext markup language ) .Back so x-ray therapy was used to handle redness of the tonsils and pharyngeal tonsils, tinea of the scalp, ear infections, acne, and other non-cancerous conditions ( Health Answers hypertext markup language ) . At the clip doctors had no indicants that external radiation intervention could take to thyroid malignant neoplastic disease. Several old ages subsequently, thyroid tumours began to look in people who had received this type of radiation therapy. Fortunately most of the tumours were slow-growing and non malignant ( Health Conn. hypertext markup language ) .Other risks factors for thyroid malignant neoplastic disease include patients with a household history of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease and patients who experience chronic goitres ( National Cancer Institute hypertext markup language ) . Symptoms Malignant thyroid tumours may develop without any sensing for many old ages after its original formation. Aside from a somewhat enlarged thyroid secretory organ or ball located in the cervix part, there are no early marks or symptoms that indicate this type of malignant neoplastic disease. If the malignant tumour is left undetected and untreated, the ulterior phases of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease might cause more obvious symptoms ( UPHS Health hypertext markup language ) . Such symptoms could perchance be gruffness or a little alteration in the voice due to coerce from the tumour on the nerve connected to the voice box or, difficultly in get downing or take a breathing due to a tumour blockading the gorge or trachea ( Thyroid Cancer Overview hypertext markup language ) . Other marks of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease are chronic coughing or coughing accompanied by hemorrhage, or diarrhoea or irregularity ( American Cancer Clinic hypertext markup language ) . Diagnosis The diagnosing of malignant neoplastic disease is terrorizing for most patients because it has become associated with utmost hurting and agony ( Brochlure.1 hypertext markup language ) . But what the patients do non recognize is that there are a figure of trials that can be performed to find the being of a malignant or benign thyroid tumour, and most of these trials cause small hurting or disablement ( Mediconsult hypertext markup language ) . Most instances of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease are found during a everyday physical scrutiny. If the secretory organ appears to be enlarged, the doctor may order farther trials to name or govern out malignant neoplastic disease ( CRHA hypertext markup language ) . These trials include: * Thyroid scan- a patient is given radioactive I to imbibe. After the I has been absorbed by the thyroid, the patient must lie on his or her dorsum with the cervix part positioned under a scanner. The information received by the scanner is so sent to a computing machine that displays a two-dimensional image of the thyroid and any tumours that hold absorbed the I. There is no uncomfortableness felt during this testing, and little sickness due to the iodine mixture is the merely reported reaction to this proving. A thyroid scan is approximately 80 to 85 % accurate, and it costs an estimated $ 50- $ 120, plus any hospital stay and excess computing machine costs. ( Health Answers hypertext markup language ) * Thyroid ultrasound- The ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves that are emitted and received by a transducer ( a handheld instrument ) that is passed over the neck part. The sound waves penetrate the organic structure, and by electronic readings, the sound moving ridges are arranged on a computing machine screen into a image image of the thyroid secretory organ and any tumours. A thyroid ultrascan is wholly harmless, and it is approximately 80 to 97 % accurate. The costs range anyplace from $ 75- $ 100. ( Health Answers hypertext markup language ) * Thyroid excisional biopsy- the trial is done in a infirmary runing room under a general anaesthesia. A ataractic is normally given by an injection about one hr before the process. An endovenous line is placed in a vena in the arm. Throughout the process, the patient is given a mixture of anaesthetic gas and O through a hollow tubing T hat is inserted through the oral cavity and into the windpipe. A little scratch is made in the cervix, and either side of the thyroid or the full ball is removed. The sample is sent to a research lab to be examined. If thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is detected, the thyroid is removed. The scratch is so stitched up. A patient who undergoes a thyroid excisional biopsy will see sleepiness, a mild sore pharynx, and some uncomfortableness from the scratch. The trial is extremely accurate and costs any where from $ 300 to $ 1,000. ( Health Answers hypertext markup language ) * Laryngoscopy- it is the scrutiny of the inside of the voice box with either the assistance of a little mirror held against the dorsum of the roof of the mouth or a flexible screening tubing called a laryngoscope. This type of proving may do a sore or hoarse pharynx. It is 50 to 75 % accurate and costs around $ 65. ( Health Answers hypertext markup language ) Cancer development Once the malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid is diagnosed, more trials can be done to happen out if malignant neoplastic disease cells hold spread to other parts of the organic structure. This is called presenting. A doctor demands to find which present the malignant neoplastic disease is in order to be after the proper intervention ( American Cancer Clinic hypertext markup language ) . There are four chief phases in each of the types of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease except for anaplastic ( uniform ) malignant neoplastic disease. In the phase I of papillose thyroid malignant neoplastic disease, the malignant neoplastic disease is located merely in the thyroid and may be found in one or both of the lobes. In phase II if the patients are younger than 45 old ages of age, the malignant neoplastic disease has spread beyond the thyroid. But if the patient is older than 45 old ages of age, the malignant neoplastic disease is merely in the thyroid and is larger than 1 centimetre. In phase III, the malignant neoplastic disease is normally found in patients older than 45 old ages of age and has spread outside of the thyroid or has spread to the lymph nodes but non outside of the cervix. In phase IV, the malignant neoplastic disease is once more normally found in patients over the age of 45. It most probably has spread to other parts of the organic structure such as the lungs or castanetss. ( Graylab hmtl ) In phase I of follicular thyroid malignant neoplastic disease, the malignant neoplastic disease is merely found in the thyroid secretory organ on one of the lobes. In phase II if the patient is younger than 45 old ages of age, the malignant neoplastic disease has spread beyond the thyroid to the lymph nodes. If the patient is older than 45 old ages of age, the malignant neoplastic disease is merely in the thyroid and is larger than 1.5 centimetres. In phase III, the malignant neoplastic disease is normally found in patients older than 45 and has spread to beyond the thyroid into other countries of the cervix and possibly outside of the cervix. Stage IV of follicle thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is really similar to present IV of papillose thyroid malignant neoplastic disease in that the malignant neoplastic disease has likely spread to the lungs and assorted castanetss. ( Graylab hypertext markup language ) Medullary thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is rather uncommon. In phase I, the is located in one or both of the thyroid secretory organs and is approximately 1 centimetre in size, but throughout the last three phases of medullary thyroid malignant neoplastic disease, the tumour grows by 1-4 centimetres and continuously spreads to other parts of the organic structure. ( Graylab hypertext markup language ) There is no presenting system for anaplastic malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid. This malignant neoplastic disease is located in either of the lobes and spreads faster than any of the other types. ( Graylab hypertext markup language ) Treatment There are fundamentally four different types of interventions used on patients with malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid: surgery, radiation therapy, endocrine therapy, and chemotherapy ( National Cancer Institute hypertext markup language ) . Each interventions are widely used in battle against thyroid malignant neoplastic disease, but non all yield the same consequences. Surgery the most common intervention for malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid. A doctor can take the malignant neoplastic disease by utilizing one or several operations. A lobectomy removes merely the side of the thyroid where the malignant neoplastic disease is found. A near-total thyroidectomy removes all of the thyroid except for a little part. A entire thyroidectomy removes the full thyroid, and a lymph node dissection removes lymph nodes in the cervix that contain malignant neoplastic disease. Complications of surgery include: bleeding, harm to the parathyroid secretory organs, and impermanent or lasting harm to the vocal chords. Any type of surgery for thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is followed up by a series of unwritten doses of radioactive I. The concentrations of iodine destroy any residuary thyroid tissue or tumour. Radiation therapy uses high-energy X raies to putting to death malignant neoplastic disease cells and psychiatrist tumours. Radiation for malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid may come from a machine outside of the organic structure ( external radiation therapy ) or from imbibing a liquid that contains radioactive I. Because the thyroid absorbs the I, the radioactive I collects in any thyroid tissue staying in the organic structure and kills the malignant neoplastic disease cells. Side effects of radiation therapy include: hydrops, increased skin pigment, tegument itchiness, peeling ( casting of outer bed of tegument ) , sickness, purging, hair loss, and possible foetal harm in adult females. Hormone therapy uses endocrines to halt malignant neoplastic disease cells from turning. In handling malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid, endocrines can be used to halt the organic structure from doing other endocrines that might do malignant neoplastic disease cells grow. The endocrines are normally ingested orally in the signifier of a pill. There are by and large no side effects to hormone therapy other than little sickness, emesis, and diarrhoea. Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill malignant neoplastic disease cells. Chemotherapy may be taken by a pill, or it may be put into the organic structure by a acerate leaf in the vena or musculus. Chemotherapy is called a systemic intervention because the drug enters the blood watercourse, travels through the organic structure, and can kill the malignant neoplastic disease cells outside of the thyroid. Chemotherapy causes similar side effects to those of radiation therapy. Prognosis Fortunately in most instances, people with the malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid are normally treated successfully. Papillary malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid is non associated with a high grade of patterned advance so many people maintain a normal life anticipation, if diagnosing is made early. Follicular malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid is frequently fast turning and may occupy other tissues, but the likely result is still good. The result of medullary malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid varies. Womans under the age of 40 have a better opportunity of a good result. The figure of people who live at least 10 old ages after diagnosing is 46 % .Anaplastic malignant neoplastic disease of the thyroid has the worst forecast. The expected life span of anyone diagnosed with this type of thyroid malignant neoplastic disease is anyplace from 6 months to 3 old ages.

Essay about Family and Good Times

Essay about Family and Good Times Essay about Family and Good Times I went over to my grandparents one weekend; they live out in the country in Lynn Center, Illinois. They own a lot of land, mostly wooded area with an old wooden corncrib and a small pond. I’ve traveled in these woods and played in the corncrib as a kid numerous times. I would go with my cousins, sibling and sometimes my grandmother. She would teach us about the different bugs, trees, rocks, and animals we encountered along the way. Going back in the woods, I was overcome with a feeling of nostalgia. I remember the times we would get rides in my grandpa’s gator, try to climb the trees, chase after the grasshoppers or even just walk around and find new things. We used to have so much fun. Walking through the woods alone made me miss all the fun times I had as a child. As I child I was carefree, I knew who my friends were and I had no worries about trust and my relationships with others. Growing up, especially in high school I’ve began to question my friends, I have a whole lot more stress and things are definitely not as simple as they once used to be. The woods were the same woods they used to be, the corncrib is exactly how we left it. Not much has changed, but the person walking through them definitely has. I can’t even remember the last time I walked through the woods, but I know one thing for sure that I have grown up and matured so much since then. While walking through the forest I began to think of all the ways I have changed and I realized a few things. Physically, obviously, my appearance has changed a lot, but emotionally I have changed a whole lot more. I

The Merry Wives of Windsor - Character Analysis

The Merry Wives of Windsor - Character Analysis In The Merry Wives of Windsor, a character is a key ingredient that makes this play one of Shakespeare’s funniest comedies. This â€Å"who’s who† of characters is written to aid your study and enjoyment of the play. You can also find more detail on Sir John Falstaff and Mistress Quickly in these articles. Mistress Ford A resident of Windsor, Mistress Ford is married to Ford, who is a fiercely jealous husband. When Mistress Ford receives a letter from Falstaff trying to seduce her, she finds that her best friend Mistress Page has also received a similar letter. Mistress Ford is a strong independent woman and in the spirit of girl power, she and Mistress Page decide to teach the men in their lives a lesson. They decide to humiliate Falstaff who has attempted to disgrace them. Mistress Ford also sets out to prove to her husband for once and for all that she is a faithful and loyal wife. She is successful in her plans and outwits the male characters proving herself to be a loyal wife but not without teaching her husband and Falstaff a lesson...don’t try and cross her or doubt her, you will regret it. Mistress Page Mistress Page also lives in Windsor. She is married to Page and is the mother of Anne Page. Anne has attracted many suitors and Mistress Page and her husband disagree about who is most suitable for their daughter. She prefers Caius as a match for her daughter whereas her husband favors Slender. Anne likes neither of her parents’ choices and she teaches her mother and father a lesson at the end of the play by marrying her true love. Mistress Page and her husband are made to see that the most important thing was to listen to their daughter and find out who she preferred. Anne takes after her mother in many ways, she teaches them a lesson in the same way that her mother teaches Falstaff the error of his ways. Ford Ford is the jealous husband of Mistress Ford. Presumably, low self-esteem leads to him believing that Falstaff will succeed in seducing his wife, also a shameful lack of belief in his wife’s loyalty to him. Ford even decides to disguise himself as ‘Brooke’ to find out from Falstaff how his wife has been responding to his advances. Of course, Falstaff informs him that his wife has arranged to meet Falstaff secretly which enrages Ford further believing that his wife is being unfaithful. He eventually comes to understand the truth and gains more respect for his wife in that she orchestrates the humiliation and downfall of Falstaff and thus proving her loyalty to him as her husband. He is made to feel a little silly for not believing in her. Page Page is a much easier going character than Ford and does not believe that his wife will be seduced by Falstaff – this shows that he has faith in his wife and shows their relationship to be much more secure. However, he does not listen to his daughter about who she is in love with and is finally taught a lesson by her. Anne Page Anne is Mistress Page and Page’s daughter. She has an array of unworthy suitors including Caius and Slender who her parents favor but Anne is in love with Fenton. She eventually elopes with Fenton and turns up with him to show her parents up and demonstrate that true love is more important. Sir Hugh Evans Sir Hugh is a Welsh Clergyman and much merriment is made about his accent. Sir Hugh Evans and Caius finally group together to humiliate the Host who has made fools of them. Caius Mistress Quickly’s Master and the local Doctor. He is French and like Hugh Evans is mocked for his accent. He is in Love with Anne Page and Mistress Page approves of the match but her husband Page and Anne herself do not like Caius. Caius teams up with Evans to give the Host his comeuppance. Slender Another match for Anne Page. Urged on by Shallow, Slender tries to seduce Anne but is only able to talk nonsense to her. Slender is overlooked by Anne. Fenton Anne’s true love, Fenton is discounted by Page who believes he is after Anne’s money, which he admits he was at first but on getting to know Anne he has fallen in love with her. They elope in secret.

Applied anatomy and physiology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Applied anatomy and physiology - Essay Example I obtained the consent before proceeding with any procedure. For a detailed medical record of the patient please refer to the index at the end of this paper. I was in contact with the patient for three weeks as I was monitoring the patient’s recovery and the effect of medication and diet. I had to monitor the diabetic data that the patient was showing so that I could change any medication or diet in the patient’s diet plan. My capacity included direct interaction with the patient where I could talk and advise any recommendations or any guideline that I deemed necessary. I had to go through a detailed discussion about the confidentiality because the privacy of medical records of the patient is always a debatable issue. The patient’s content that they are the sole owners of their medical record and this cannot be shared with anyone. The patients have the right to access their own medical records (Schoenberg  & Safran, 2000). However, the doctor side of this debate argues that the medical records should be accessible to the medical staff and anyone that the doctors deemed worthy and qualified enough to share their opinion for the recovery and better treatment of the patient. The normal anatomy and physiology of the patient with type II diabetes includes normal blood pressure but the patient presented the case of hypotension. This condition can be explained by the use of drug Amlodipine. The normal physiology of a 45 year old male does not include nausea or headaches. At the age of 45 a person is healthy showing no unusual weakness in limbs and no visual disturbance. Endocrine pancreas is present as cell-clusters (islets of Langerhans) comprising four types of cells: alpha, beta, PP and delta cells (Sussel et al., 1998). Type II diabetes mellitus occurs with the interaction of environmental factors and a certain combination of genetic variants (Sladek et al., 2007). A study by Lorenzo et al. (1994) reveals that amylin fibril formation in

Sherman Alexie Essay Example for Free

Sherman Alexie Essay According my researching from Encyclopaedia Britannica Online, Academic Search Complete, and Superman and Me in class, I found out biographical information on Sherman Alexie. The reason I searched about Sherman Alexie because I wanted to know about how he had been through his life and become a successful American poet. He also writes essays and novels. In childhood, Sherman Alexie was born October 7, 1966 on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington. He lived where surrounded by alcoholism, crimes, and drugs around him. His father was an alcoholic. Alexie’s health was poor which hydrocephalus -water on the brain was. The doctor gave up to save his life, and he was not expected to survive through his severe disease. â€Å"The hydrocephalus had left him with an enlarged skull, and he suffered from seizures and bed-wetting throughout his childhood†. Even though he had suffered his life through his mental disabilities, he patiently spent most of his childhood reading. Time went by; his surgery was successful and survived. His hardworking is the cornerstone to success when he spent most of time to read. This reminds me that even though I have struggle in my life, I will stand up to deal with problems and never give up on anything. Without my hardworking, I won’t go anywhere and have a successful life. I think that all his efforts spending time his childhood reading will bring matter to a resolution and equality to his life. Alexie had to deal with all the challenges and problems that he met at the reservation school even though he was teased by other kids. â€Å"As a boy, Alexie was teased mercilessly by the other reservation kids, who called him â€Å"The Glode†. I think he was called The Globe because his head was larger than other kids due to his as infant hydrocephalus. He also was kept out from many of the activities at the reservation school for young Indian males due to his health issues. Nothing he could do at the moment, Alexie was being outstanding to read anything available to him (Lynn 197-198). This shows me that I try hard and spend the amount of my available time to work on anything, the price of success will come from my hardworking. According to Sarah Quirk, one of the American novelists said â€Å"Blend elements of popular culture, Indian spirituality, a nd the drudgery of poverty-ridden reservation life to create  his characters and the world they inhabit† .One of the influences of Alexie’s writings is meant to bring sadness to the conscious mind. He uses humor, literature, and cultural activities. The purpose he wanted to use humor in his plot was to leave the readers with an observation of a particular aspect, admiration, understanding, and sympathy. This means Alexie’s influences for his literary works don’t depend all the listings of Indian modern forms. Alexies work is filled with using humor to present all his character’s works, and most of his writing focused on what he had experienced as a Native American. It was very meaningful to read his collection of poems and short stories because all his works helped me to explore and know more many facts of contemporary life on a reservation. Alexie has the best way of describing circumstances and tenderness through different poems and short stories that make me hurt and pain for the Native Americans who live on reservations. Alexie thought to have a better life and better himself, so he decided to leave the reservation and attended Reardan High school at his eighth grade. He tried all his best to study hard and at the end all the grant he received from his hardwork made him at expert at his studying and became a basketball star and elected as class president. â€Å"There, he flourished, becoming a star player (and the only Indian) on the schools basketball team (ironically called the Reardan Indians), as well as the team captain, class president, and a member of the championship debate team† (Lynn 198). His achievement in High School was admitted his admission to Jesuit University in 1985. He had a successful academic career path. After Alexie successful academic career in there, he transfer to Washington State University in 1987 where he started writing poetry and short fiction .I knew that because of his hard working brought them a better life. I also think that even though there is any problem in my life, I have to deal in order to overcome problems, never give up in my life. Giving up easily every decision I make, it won’t let me succeed and bright me the path I choose to go. In 1990, one of Alexie’s first work collections of poetry was The Business of Fancydancing. It was published in Hanging Loose magazine. â€Å"The Business of Fancydancing, was published in 1992, The New York Times described him as one of the major lyric voices of our time. Ever since, the writer has continued to receive critical acclaim†. (McNally) .The knowledge and learning all he put gave him satisfaction and motivation; he  succeeded in writing first poetry. It also gave him the motivation to quit drinking. â€Å"On the night of his twenty-first birthday, Alexie-drunk, as usual-was robbed at knifepoint. He had sunk low enough. He gave up drinking for good.† (Lynn 198). He knew that the risk of drinking was bad for health, so he chose the right decision to focus on his work. The right decision he made would lead him to attain greatness and make him rich through an enormous awards and grants of his hard work. Sherman reflects on his successful career and being a successful Indian writer. I used to be a binge alcoholic. Ive substituted writing for alcohol. Writing is everything. It takes stuff away. Its like being married. Its a high-maintenance relationship. You cant get lazy. Im doing something around it every dayreading, writing, editing, and thinking. I can be staring out the window, and Im working real hard.(Lynn 202). Alexie received many awards and grants. â€Å"In 2010 he won a number of literary awards, including the PEN/Faulkner Award for War Dances (2009; another mix of prose and poetry) and the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers’ Circle of the Americas( Daniel). Through his hard working, it led him a successful career path from poems to short stories to novels through reading and writing. In his essay â€Å"Superman and me†, Alexie writes, â€Å"In all my years in the reservation school system, I was never taught how to write poetry, short stories, and novels. I was certainly never taught that Indians wrote poetry.† This reminds and wants readers to explore their new options in reading and writing, it may save your life (Sherman 112). I think that exploring new options in reading may ultimately save my life. The more I explore new options in reading, the more I gain more knowledge. Just like Sherman Alexie, he was surprised he became a writer despite all the books he read and all the time he spent reading; consequently, education can save his life successfully. Education can save life once people spend time and work hard on it. From what I have been reading and knowing about Sherman’s literacy work, I explore new possibilities for assessing his rich and challenging work. Not only do I know about his life, but I also know about how much time he put his efforts in and how hard his life had been through to be a successful literacy career. When I do research, each research step is to determine the purpose of my research, to do some background I have done reading that familiarize with the topi c, select and use the best  Library Catalogue research resource, analyze my research, organize and write, cite my research. Since I had been doing with research, I learned about a particular topic in depth, enhancing of credentials, understanding process, an ability to think and work independently, MLA formatting and style, works cited and citations. The more I do research, the more I enhance my experience, knowledge, and credibility. Works Cited McNally, Joel. Sherman Alexie. Writer (Kalmbach Publishing Co.) 114.6 (2001): 28. Analysis of My Papas Waltz by Theodore Rothke Essay -- My Papas Walt

Analysis of My Papa's Waltz by Theodore Rothke My Papa's Waltz is by Theodore Rothke it is about a childhood memory written later in his lifetime. Theodore Rothke's dad was an alcoholic drunk. Theodore Rothke went through a period where he was depressed and mentally unstable. Theodore Rothke was fascinated by the nature of the world; many of his poems were about this subject. Some people who read My Papa&'s Waltz come to the conclusion that it is about a drunken abusive father. However, I think when he was writing this he was reminiscing about a good childhood memory from when he was around seven years old. Theodore Rothke?s life was anything but ordinary. Not only alcoholism but also mental breakdowns through out the middle and later part of his life troubled Theodore Rothke. Roth...
